SnapLogic frees organizations from the expense and overhead of centralized integration solutions and the quagmire of myriad unique hand-coded scripts. The SnapLogic solution, based on snap-together, re-usable components, offers these benefits:
SnapLogic makes it easy to assemble data integration solutions. SnapLogic Designer's drag-and-drop interface (enabled by RESTful interfaces) and collection of ready-to-use Connectors (e.g., the SnapLogic SalesForce.com Connector) and Extensions (e.g., the PHP Extension) enables IT engineers to quickly create data integration solutions. Engineers can also find complete, ready-to-use data integration Pipelines available for free download on our Community site, http://www.snaplogic.org/.
Each SnapLogic server’s metadata Repository is a structured, searchable archive that enables users to find, access, and manage Resources and integration Pipelines, facilitating the re-use and sharing of data integration components. Through its Repository, SnapLogic further accelerates the development and deployment of data integration solutions.
SnapLogic Designer provides drag-and-drop access to Resources stored in a metadata Repository.
SnapLogic tracks the origin and transformation history of all data flowing through Pipelines. Using SnapLogic's strong metadata model, users can verify the origin and flow of data for quality and accuracy, even data intended for enterprise mashups and other decentralized applications.
IT can respond more quickly to business opportunities and initiatives, because it is not mired in disparate, unique scripts. Instead it has a broad-based framework of re-usable components from which new data integration solutions can be quickly assembled.
SnapLogic's RESTful approach to data integration makes data securely available to any authorized user or application that can issue an HTTP request and accept a response. The power of this popular approach is that once data is SnapLogic-enabled, it can be easily mixed and match with other data sources (both inside and outside the enterprise) to build mashups and other lightweight, situational applications.
SnapLogic is available in a free, full featured Open Source Community Edition, eliminating the expense of costly proprietary licensed software. In addition, SnapLogic lowers costs by reducing the maintenance work and administrative overhead associated with hand-coded integrations.
SnapLogic offers full programmatic control over Components, Resources, and Pipelines. Programmers can take advantage of dynamic languages such as Python and PHP.
Programmers, as well as less technical users, can make use of SnapLogic’s drag-and-drop interface to assemble and configure data integration Pipelines. But unlike other data integration tools with graphical interfaces, the SnapLogic UI tool creates Resources whose source code is intelligible and editable. Whether a component is created in SnapLogic Designer (SnapLogic's browser-based design tool) or coded by hand, it remains accessible to other users as functional building blocks for data integration Pipelines.
Because SnapLogic is Open Source, users benefit from new Connectors and Components contributed to the community. In contrast to high-end ETL solutions that require extensive investments in time and money to create components, SnapLogic makes data Connectors and Components available for free.
Domain experts, such as sales operations engineers and data base administrators, do not have to open their data to the broad daylight of uncontrolled access that database accounts entail. Rather, they can make URIs available to other departments and secure those URIs using well-known, proven Web security technologies, such as Web authentication systems and SSL.
Hand-coded scripts are prone to error, especially since they tend to be written in haste and uncommented. In contrast, SnapLogic provides a methodical, building block approach. Once a Component has been developed and tested, IT engineers can trust it to perform as designed.
