Cloud and Big Data Integration in the News

snaplogic_fall2015With hybrid now the new enterprise IT reality and big data adoption on the rise, integration is being recognized as the critical on-ramp (and potential roadblock) to achieving the desired benefits – from cloud application ROI to multi-source modern analytics insight. But as we’ve written about on this blog, “SO SO” (same old, same old) approaches to application and data integration (read: ESB and ETL) can no longer keep up.

With our recent SnapLogic Elastic Integration Fall 2015 announcement, we’ve been getting some great feedback on the benefits of a unified platform as a service (iPaaS) that is built to connect apps, data and Things. Here is a summary:

In the article from FierceBigData (New SnapLogic release adds big data integration to iPaaS platform) they noted:

“If you’ve noticed a trend in app and data integration across all software verticals, you’re spot on. Big data is steadily moving away from being standalone applications to being the backbone of all software.”

In his Strata + Hadoop World Report, Doug Henschen from Constellation Research noted that Spark and real-time were in the spotlight, with “Spark inside” becoming a common claim.

Microsoft’s popular Channel 9 blog covered the news about our new partnership, which is focused on powering the Cortana Analytics Suite. Joseph Sirosh, Corporate Vice President of Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics for Microsoft noted: “The Cortana Analytics Suite with SnapLogic data integration dramatically accelerates time to value, and provides a powerful platform for analytics and machine learning in the cloud.”

In their coverage, SnapLogic Update Adds Spark, Apache Cassandra Connectors. InformationWeek picked up my quote about enterprise big data and modern iPaaS adoption: “As enterprise customers dig in, we are seeing just as much focus on governance and security.” Those are “classic IT requirements.”

Today 451 wrote a detailed review of the Fall 2015 release. I’ve embedded it below. In addition to covering what’s new, Carl Lehmann from 451 pointed out the strength of SnapLogic’s low-latency Ultra Pipelines:

“Perhaps the most notable capabilities of SnapLogic’s Elastic iPaaS are its Ultra Pipelines. They are multi-step, multi-point integration processes that enable real-time data delivery to applications, and operate at high speed across hybrid clouds. SnapLogic’s customers are using them (in a sense) as a fault-tolerant mechanism. They straddle and execute across firewalls. If a public cloud were to go down, the Ultra Pipelines would still run because they’re running on-premises as well as in that cloud. Moreover, they are always active, eliminating the need for IT staff to manually invoke or schedule them – handy when hybrid infrastructure unexpectedly goes sideways.”
