Principal Software Engineer (Platform Core)

The Role:

You’re a Principal Software Engineer who writes quality code and tests that allows users to execute application and data integration pipelines. You’re proficient in Java, but ready to learn whatever language, framework, or tool you need to to accomplish your tasks. You know your way around the command line, debugger, profiler, and heap analysis tools. You take ownership of your tasks, help junior engineers improve, and can help prioritize and triage work with product management.
We are looking for exceptional, self-motivated individuals who would like to work with a self-organizing team. As part of the Platform team that powers all of Snaplogic’s services, you’ll work on a range of interesting topics to make our platform resilient, robust, highly available, fault tolerant, and scale up to meet the growing demands of our Enterprise customers.
This is a remote role with occasional travel required to our HQ in San Mateo, CA.

What You'll Do:

  • Application development for Platform core team supporting the engine that triggers and executes our customer's integrations
  • Work on improving and scaling backend services and infrastructure that processes terabyte-scale data
  • Provide technical expertise to product owners to help decide what to prioritize and build
  • Assist QA in debugging and fixing issues
  • Make suggestions and improvements to the team's process

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience writing, testing, and debugging production quality code
  • Has a background in application development and distributed systems
  • Can pair program with others on occasion, doesn't mind mentoring junior developers
  • Fluent in Java and JVM internals
  • Knows and/or wants to learn Kotlin
  • Some knowledge of and experience working with Docker and the desire to learn Kubernetes
  • Experience building REST APIs and server side applications
$150,000 - $180,000 a year
The above range is the approximate annual U.S. base pay range for this position. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed. In addition to base salaries, certain roles are also eligible for annual cash bonuses or commissions. All of our full time employees get stock options and a comprehensive benefits package.
