Elastic Integration Platform as a Service Powers Big Data Integration and Analytics with SnapReduce 2.0

SAN MATEO, Calif. — September 17, 2014 — SnapLogic, the Elastic Integration company, today announced that it has joined the Hortonworks® Technology Partner Program and successfully completed testing to achieve Hortonworks’ Certification for SnapLogic SnapReduce 2.0. Integration with the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) enables customers to rapidly acquire, prepare and deliver Apache^TM^ Hadoop® with SnapLogic’s industry-leading integration platform as a service (iPaaS).

SnapReduce 2.0 enables SnapLogic to run natively on Hadoop as a YARN-managed resource (Yet Another Resource Negotiator) that elastically scales out to power next generation analytics. With SnapReduce 2.0, SnapLogic becomes a YARN application, allowing Hadoop users to take advantage of an HTML5-based drag-and-drop user interface, breadth of connectivity and modern architecture. In addition, SnapReduce can transform SnapLogic data flow pipelines into MapReduce jobs to run on Hadoop-scale data. Key uses cases include data warehousing using big data hubs; data cleansing, preparation and wrangling for analytics; multi-source data aggregation for exploration; and data delivery of filtered data to BI tools and visualizers.

By achieving Certification, SnapLogic will simplify and accelerate the deployment of a modern data architecture with pre-built and validated integrations between leading enterprise technologies and the Hortonworks Data Platform, the industry’s only 100-percent open source Hadoop distribution. To certify partner technologies, Hortonworks reviews each product for architectural best practices, validates it against a comprehensive suite of integration test cases and performs benchmarks for scale under varied workloads, while comprehensively documenting every step in the process.

“By running natively on Hadoop, SnapReduce 2.0 delivers powerful application and data integration and extends the reach, performance and utilization of big data platforms, thereby enabling our customers to maximize big data investments,” said Greg Benson, Chief Scientist at SnapLogic. “With this certification, Hortonworks users can be assured of the quality and effectiveness of our combined solutions.”

Architected for the enterprise, Hortonworks Data Platform was built by the core architects, builders and operators of Apache Hadoop and includes all of the necessary components to manage a cluster at scale and uncover business insights from existing and new big data sources. With a YARN-based architecture, HDP enables multiple workloads, applications and processing engines across single clusters with optimal efficiency. A reliable, secure and multi-use enterprise data platform, HDP is an important component of the modern data architecture, helping organizations mine, process and analyze large batches of unstructured data sets to make more informed business decisions.

“Hortonworks is dedicated to expanding and empowering the Apache Hadoop ecosystem, accelerating innovation and adoption of 100-percent open source enterprise Hadoop,” said John Kreisa vice president of strategic marketing at Hortonworks. “We welcome SnapLogic to the Apache Hadoop community and look forward to working with them to further strengthen Hadoop’s role as the foundation of the next-generation data architecture. Integrating with SnapReduce 2.0 allows us to offer our joint customers Hadoop integration both on-premise and in the cloud, which is hugely important as Hadoop becomes enterprise ready.”

About the SnapLogic Elastic Integration Platform
SnapLogic provides a cloud-based iPaaS to connect data, applications and APIs. The SnapLogic Elastic Integration Platform streams data between multiple SaaS applications such as ServiceNow, Salesforce.com and Workday as well as on-premises systems like SAP and Oracle. It also provides powerful data integration for business analytics solutions such as Tableau and Birst, cloud data warehouse platforms like Amazon Redshift, and big data platforms like Hortonworks. SnapLogic Elastic Integration Platform users have access to more than 160 pre-built connectors, called Snaps, and SnapReduce, which enables processing to run natively and Hadoop and turns easy-to-create and run data flows, called pipelines, into MapReduce jobs without programming. When it comes to cloud services and big data integration, organizations no longer need to invest in separate tools for enterprise application integration (EAI) and extract-transform-load (ETL) style integration workloads.
