The EDIFACT Snap Pack is a collection of purpose-built Snaps designed to integrate UN/EDIFACT — the United Nations standard for electronic business document exchange — directly into your SnapLogic pipelines. Where EDI X12 is dominant in North America, EDIFACT is the global standard, widely adopted across Europe, Asia, and international trade. Rather than building custom transformation logic or relying on external middleware, you get ready-to-use Snaps that handle the complexity of EDIFACT formatting and parsing out of the box.
What you can do
This Snap Pack enables you to incorporate EDIFACT into any integration workflow with minimal configuration. Convert incoming JSON data into standards-compliant EDIFACT binary files for transmission to international trading partners, or parse inbound EDIFACT documents into JSON for downstream processing. Each Snap is purpose-built for a specific direction of data flow, giving you precise control over how EDIFACT documents enter and exit your pipelines.
Why it matters
EDIFACT is the backbone of international B2B document exchange in industries like retail, logistics, healthcare, and manufacturing. Automating the exchange of EDIFACT documents reduces manual handling, improves data accuracy, and accelerates transaction cycles across your global supply chain. The EDIFACT Snap Pack removes the need to manage proprietary EDI translators or hand-coded transformations — all within the SnapLogic platform you already use.
This Snap Pack includes the following key features:
- Reads JSON input and formats it as a standards-compliant EDIFACT binary file for transmission to global trading partners.
- Parses inbound EDIFACT binary files and converts them into JSON for downstream processing and system integration.
- Supports a broad range of EDIFACT standard versions, including D95B, D96B, D98B, D99B, D00A, D00B, D10A, D10B, D11B, and D18A.
This Snap Pack contains the following Snaps:
- EDI Formatter: Reads incoming JSON document data and converts it into an EDIFACT binary file formatted according to a specific EDIFACT message type and version.
- EDI Parser: Reads an inbound EDIFACT binary file and converts it into a JSON document formatted according to a specific EDIFACT message type and version.
